A Great Sermon and a Great Song

The Sermon: On our drive back from Tennessee Monday, Zane and I listened to a wonderful sermon on prayer by our favorite pastor, Tim Keller. Discussing this book by Eugene Peterson, Keller talks about two kinds of prayer: evening heart-at-rest prayer and morning active petitionary prayer. I really encourage you to listen to the sermon if you have the time.

The Song: There's a new song kicking off my blog playlist below, if you haven't noticed yet. Last weekend our friends Brian & Cara got married and this is the song they opened the wedding with...it was heavenly. Tonight, this song is my heart-at-rest prayer. (*Update* I have since removed the blog playlist so you won't be hearing this song anymore. You can easily find it online.)

He's Always Been Faithful
by Sara Groves

Morning by morning I wake up to find
the power and comfort of God's hand in mine.
Season by season I watch him amazed, in
awe of the mystery of his perfect ways.
All I have need of his hand will provide.
He's always been faithful to me.
I can't remember a trial or a pain he did
not recycle to bring me gain.
I can't remember one single regret
In serving God only and trusting his hand.
All I have need of his hand will provide.
He's always been faithful to me.
This is my anthem, this is my song,
the theme of the stories I've heard for so long.
God has been faithful, he will be again.
His loving compassion, it knows no end.
All I have need of his hand will provide.
He's always been faithful to me.
