Spring Worship: Thanksgiving with Uncle Will & Aunt Shiying

Will & Shiying spent a whole week with us for Thanksgiving. We loved it! Zane and I enjoyed talking with them about both deep and trivial things and having some people to play games with at night. I couldn't have made a Thanksgiving dinner by myself. I love how my asian sister-in-law teaches me how to make good ol' American food! And I so enjoyed Shiying's company during the week while the boys were at work - I really missed having her around to chat with after she left. Oh and the girls and I loved visiting the Google office and eating lunch with Will at their gourmet cafeteria!

Will made me an awesome latte! The office not only has a gourmet coffee bar and barista on staff but espresso machines at the snack bars. Apparently there's some policy about making sure none of their engineers are more than a few minutes from snacks! Anyway, Will and his team for a team building activity got barista training. And I benefited.

Thanksgiving Day!

We started off the day with touch football at the park with some neighbors, church friends and our international student. It started off as a pretty low-key game...until our pastor arrived. Let's just say he's pretty competitive! :o)

The boys played games while Shiying and I cooked. That's Xinliang, an international student from China who spent the day with us.

The menu: Shiying's super moist Turkey, Stuffing, Browned-butter Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Roasted Root Vegetables, Persimmon & Pomegranate Salad and Pumpkin-Pecan Pie for dessert. Mmm.....

On Black Friday, we all went to the L.A. Zoo. It was a beautiful day and actually a great day for a trip to the zoo because although it was a holiday, it still wasn't that crowded. We hadn't been to the zoo with Grace since she before she was able to really "get" it. It was delightful to experience it through her eyes. Here's a taste...
