This is the kind of post you've all probably been expecting. We moved to California almost nine months ago and live only about five miles from the beach, after all. Shouldn't we practically live at the beach? Well, we don't and there's really no excuse for it. The ocean is good for the soul!
Yesterday, we decided that we'd take Gigi to the beach before dropping her off at the airport. We invited our neighbors and good friends. This morning was hectic but really not much more than usual. We packed a picnic, some blankets and sand toys and lathered on the sun screen and loaded up our cars to drive to Manhattan Beach. That was about all it took. I keep wondering why we haven't done this before. I think it's easy to get intimidated by the hassle of packing for babies and toddlers and to worry a little too much about messing their schedules up by traveling outside a 2 mile radius of home. But it's almost always worth it. And the extra long naps in the afternoon are nice too.
So hopefully we will be doing this again soon. But until then, here's what just another Thursday morning at the beach in March looks like...
